Draw a Fig in Coloured Pencil
A complete free tutorial from botanical artist Emma Tildesley. Watch every step, from first layer to finished drawing, and download the line drawing to start from.

Hello, I'm Emma. I paint botanicals from life in my studio in Worcestershire, and I teach people all over the world to do the same.
This deep purple fig is a rich coloured pencil project and a good lesson in choosing colours. Layer by layer you'll take it from the pale green of the stalk down into the dusty purple of the fruit, and finish with a fig that looks ready to pick up off the page.
Pop your email below and I'll open the full video tutorial for you straight away, with the line drawing and the reference photo to download and print. It costs nothing, and you'll also hear from me when new free tutorials and live classes come up.
