Passionflower Botanical Illustration - Part 1
A botanical art tutorial by Emma Tildesley.
Here is the first instalment of our Botanical Illustration.
I chose to do a passionflower for its unique flowers, glossy leaves and curly tendrils. This can be a complex subject, but as always we will take it one pencil stroke at a time. We are starting with the leaves, which are actually rather demanding and time consuming with their high gloss surface and many lobes.
Alongside the line drawings I have also uploaded a scan of my own drawing so you can see how I have laid it out on the page, leaving room for the dissections to follow. The print out is on A4 as per usual but I am drawing on an A3 block to allow room.
Mia is currently taking some well deserved time off so the Passionflower fact file will be added on her return.
I hope you enjoy this new project ☺️
